Gitary akustyczne różnią się między sobą nie tylko sposobem wykonania i materiałem wykorzystanym do ich budowy, ale przede wszystkim rodzajem i kształtem pudła. Przy wyborze akustyka musimy wiedzieć, czym różnią się poszczególne typy – ale jak je sklasyfikować? No tutaj pojawia się mały problem – bo na dobrą sprawę nie ma uniwersalnego szablonu. Ponadto wielu producentów stosuje swoje własne typy i oznaczenia… Mimo wszystko moim zdaniem najważniejsze są te, które krótko opisałem poniżej:
Dreadnought
To obecnie chyba najczęściej spotykany kształt korpusu. Wyróżniają go przede wszystkim dość duże rozmiary, średnie wcięcie „w talii” i całkiem głębokie pudło. Takie gitary świetnie nadają się do gry akordowej ze względu na ich donośne brzmienie. Określenie to zostało wprowadzone przez Martina i jest wykorzystywane powszechnie.
Grand Auditorium
Korpus taki charakteryzuje się bardzo nowoczesnym charakterem – został zaprojektowany przez Taylor’a w 1994 roku. Posiada okrągłe kształty, węższą górę i szeroki dół. Bardzo często ten rodzaj pudła jest wykorzystywany w gitarach elektroakustycznych stosowanych na scenie i prawie zawsze posiada wcięcie ułatwiające grę w wyższych pozycjach. Czasami Grand Auditorium jest przez producentów oznaczane jako „000”.
Grand Concert
Pudła takie są dużo mniejsze i nieco płytsze niż „standardowe” akustyki, przez co są bardziej „kompaktowe” i nadają się dla młodszych adeptów gry na tym instrumencie. Często gitary typu Grand Concert są klasyfikowane jako „parlour”, czyli w pewnym sensie „instrumenty salonowe” o mniejszych rozmiarach.
Jumbo
To największy i najgłębszy rodzaj korpusu. Produkuje głębokie i donośne brzmienie, jednak z racji dużych rozmiarów gra na takiej gitarze jest nieco trudniejsza. Zatem takie konstrukcje świetnie nadają się do gry rytmicznej i akordowej. Występuje również w większym wariancie Super Jumbo.
Opisałem tutaj tylko te najczęściej spotykane konstrukcje gitar akustycznych. Wiadomo, że typów jest znacznie więcej. Dodatkowo każdy z producentów stosuje własne oznaczenia i wprowadza wariacje na temat konkretnych kształtów – tak jak na przykład NEX od Takamine albo Orchestra Model i Grand Performance od Martina. Ponadto ich pudła nierzadko posiadają autorskie projekty ożebrowań wewnątrz korpusów, które mają sprzyjać odpowiedniemu rezonansowi.
Warto zatem zapoznać się z propozycjami producentów i dobrać pudło pod siebie.
